18-year-old shot to death Uptown

An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Thursday afternoon in an Uptown neighborhood. The shooting occurred Thursday about 2 p.m. in the 5300 block of Constance Street, near the corner of Valmont Street, according to New Orleans police. Brandon Cotton, of New Orleans, was dead at the scene, said John Gagliano, chief investigator for the coroner. Cotton had been shot several times. Police found Cotton lying inside a vehicle parked near a carport in a brick apartment complex. Dozens of neighbors and other people lined the crime scene’s perimeter and watched police begin their investigation. Homicide Detective Barrett Morton is in charge of the investigation. The murder occurred on the site of a well-known 2006 slaying. Notorious criminal Ivory “B-Stupid” Harris gunned down Jermaine “Manny” Wise on Fat Tuesday on the same block.
